HSE Course Healthy Food Made Easy
The Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME) Programme is a basic nutrition and cookery course that encourages healthy eating, improves knowledge of nutrition for making easy to cook meals and teaches the skill of preparing meals on a budget. The course content is based on the most up-to-date healthy eating guidelines from the Department of Health. This course fits ideally with Junior Cycle Wellbeing and Transition Year programmes. The course outline is as follows: 1. Building a food pyramid 2. The fibre providers 3. Focus on fats 4. Food for life 5. Shop smart! 6. The road ahead “All teachers are expected to be in a position to deliver this programme to students on completion of the training.”
